A couple of weeks ago we went along to Storm Thorgerson's opening night of his exhibition 'For The Love Of Vinyl' in Buckingham. Clearly, being an ex student, I couldn't afford the art but he was surprisingly chatty. He talked us through a load of his covers and even told me to go away and play with polaroids as he did for Peter Gabriel's album.
Noel Fieldings exhibition Brian Ferry vs The Jellyfox is in the oldest cake shop in London, Maison Bertaux. The exhibition was amazing, the only problem was, being a saturday, the cake shop was packed and you felt a bit awkward looking at the art when there are people sat eating! He had really made it his own space by drawing on every nook and cranny.
Thanks to a wonderful friend (and itunes gigs throughout July) I am going to see The Foals and Two Door Cinema Club for free! This is the first of three gigs this year to see The Foals - utter excitement!
This university project was to create our own band and design their album. My album was based on friends at home and the track names were taken from quotes that they have said. The album is called 'If you haven't got a head, get a hat' so the cover has another cover over it so that you can change the hat. Every album would be sold with a different hat.
After a very unlucky day in Wakefield, we ended up at Yorkshire Sculpture Park where Rob Ryan (http://rob-ryan.blogspot.com/), an artist that really inspires me, had some work up.
This project was to re-design a 12" album cover from a list provided by Becks Music Inspired Art. I picked Radiohead - Kid A because I know the album well and represented the music itself with light imagery.
